New degree program at the CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus is for one of the top-paying careers with the best prospects

The Logistics Management Technician program for those entering higher education on March 6th stands out for its wide adaptability, making it a cornerstone for the commerce digital transformation process that has been taking place throughout society in recent years.

Weeks after the close of the latest admission process in which thousands of young people applied for various technical and professional degree programs, only a few vacancies remain in fields that will undoubtedly be essential for the future. One of them is the Logistics Management Technician program taught at the new CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus, offering a new educational option for residents of the Malleco and Biobío provinces.

With more than 3,500 square meters including state-of-the-art classrooms, technological laboratories, a library, multi-court complex, amphitheater and cafeteria, this Professional Technical Education Center will begin classes on March 6th, opening its doors to around 700 young residents of the area who now have the option to study without moving to another region. 

Developed jointly by CMPC and Duoc UC, this first campus of the future uses a dual training education system wherein students can learn and deepen their knowledge in the same place they’ll work upon graduating from their respective programs, thus complementing the knowledge acquired in the classroom with experience in the field. 

Logistics Management Technician

According to the North American consulting firm Americas Market Intelligence (AMI), e-commerce in Chile during the 2021-2025 period is projected to grow at an annual rate of 19%, reaching USD 32 billion by 2025. That means this degree program will become a cornerstone of the digital transformation process. 

But what do we mean by Logistics Management? In a few words, this profession includes the set of activities that enables delivering a specific quantity of products at a low cost and in a pre-determined time period in order to meet the needs of the client; i.e., everything that is available in the e-commerce industry. That is specifically where professional technicians are extremely necessary because they help ensure that processes function correctly or get improved with a special focus on customer service. 

“Logistics is everywhere in our homes and companies, and we all rely on it to to carry out various activities or functions. Today it is understood that logistics is part of people’s daily lives. Therefore, it is vital to have trained people with a complete working knowledge of it,” said Rodrigo Oyanedel, a graduate in Logistics Management Technician and professor at Duoc UC.

The job market and high employability

The CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus provides a degree program with a broad job market since this professional profile lets the graduate work anywhere in the supply chain, be it purchasing, reception, inventories, storage, warehouse, packing, dispatch, preparation, logistics coordination, operations, sales departments, and more. 

This means there is a high employability, especially when it comes to online commerce, which will continue to grow according to AMI estimates. In addition, according to data taken from the Mi Futuro website (SIES), the pay range is CLP 900,000 to CLP 1,000,000, four years after graduation more than double the minimum wage in Chile.

In addition to Logistics Management Technician, the new campus will begin operations by offering degree programs for People Management Technician, Administration Technician, Electricity and Industrial Automation Technician, Electro-mechanical Maintenance Technician, Senior Nursing Technician and Programmer Analyst Technician.
