In the face of the severe health emergency faced by the Puente Alto Preventive Detention Center (CDP) due to coronavirus, CMPC delivered a series of hygiene and personal care products for both inmates and Gendarmerie officials on Wednesday, 22 April.
These are Softys products such as toilet paper, alcohol gel, wet towels, paper towels and liquid soap.
In the CDP of Puente Alto, since the coronavirus emergency began, 84 officials and 61 interns have been registered as confirmed cases of contagion. That is why, a series of disadvantages has taken place to the interior of the jail, with attempts of riot and escape.
The warden of the Puente Alto prison, Colonel Victor Provoste, thanked “the active collaboration of CMPC towards this Criminal Unit. This shows the commitment that this private entity has to society. Clearly we need the support of everyone and I hope that what CMPC has done is taken as an example by other companies, institutions, foundations, for example, thus as a society and country we can overcome and control this pandemic that has affected the whole world”.
Prior to the delivery of this aid, CMPC has already developed two sanitized operations in the administrative units of Puente Alto prison.
The actions, which were part of a greater process of sanitation in streets and public spaces of the commune, also aimed at reducing the chances of contagion of Gendarmerie officers and inmates who interact with them.
