Climate management and greenhouse gases
The combination of greenhouse gas emissions, produced directly or indirectly, by people, organizations, products, events or geographical regions and expressed in terms of CO2 equivalent, make up the carbon footprint, as a way of quantifying the impact that an activity or company process has on climate change. According to the GHG Protocol, the carbon footprint consists of the following scopes:
Scope1 | Scope 2 | Scope 3 |
Direct from fixed and mobile sources | Indirect due to energy generation bought from third parties | Other indirect emissions within the supply chain |
Our corporate sustainable development goal in terms of Emissions is reducing, by 2030, our greenhouse gas emissions (direct and indirect) by 50%, with a 2018 baseline. |

CMPC has carried out a complete study of its scope 3, expanding its emissions inventory and including all the categories of the GHG Protocol, therefore, variation with respect to 2018 is not an actual increase, but the result of inclusion of the new categories. In the near future, the company expects to model a target, once again using SBTi methodology, beginning to work on priority areas of emission reduction.
