WOAMY

With a decade of research under its belt, Woamy began at Aalto University (Finland). The company develops fully biodegradable foams from cellulose to replace petroleum-based foams, such as expanded polystyrene. This mold-free, continuous and fast-drying manufacturing process consumes low amounts of energy and readily available raw materials. It has a high potential for protecting consumer goods in logistics processes and can be recycled in the same cycle with paper.

What benefits does Woamy offer for caring for the planet?

  • Woamy brings to the market an eco-friendly biodegradable solution to replace plastic foams, which can take up to 1,000 years to degrade.
  • Fully bio-based and non-toxic, it can be manufactured from wood or agricultural waste.
  • It’s fast-drying manufacturing process is mold free and doesn’t require any chemical additives, extreme pressures or temperatures.
  • Woamy has a superior directional force due to its density as compared to other bio-based foams. The material’s elongated bubbles make it harder and stronger than even cardboard.
