A successful close to the third annual Nahuelbuta All-In

The Angol district of the La Araucanía Region of Chile is home to the national trail running championship, an event organized in coordination with the Athletic Federation of Chile, with CMPC as sponsor and support from the Municipality of Angol.

A trail running party was launched at 6 AM on April 1 at the Junquillar property of CMPC in the La Araucanía Region (Chile). More than one thousand competitors participated in the third edition of the Nahuelbuta All-In. Federated athletes participated in the national championship along with other athletes who competed in the Nahuelbuta All-In Challenge, giving an extra flavor to the races.

The participants were supported by their families and teams that arrived from all over Chile, including Juan Fernández Island to the most extreme north and south of the country. International athletes also joined in.

The competition was organized by the production company Zorcat and sponsored by the Municipality of Angol and CMPC, who made available its Junquillar property, located in the Acequias de Angol sector, to serve as the natural backdrop of the trails for the competitors to enjoy throughout the day.

Felipe Aliste from ZORCAT, the producer in charge of the event, expressed thanks for the chance to hold this national activity in conjunction with the Athletic Federation of Chile. He said, “The proposal implied a lot of effort for us, a lot of work, a new challenge, but we gave our best effort and we are very, very happy with the outcome.”

Federation member Jaime Valenzuela added, “We are very happy to be participating in this wonderful event for federated runners and all the other runners,” noting that this activity has grown thanks to the participants and event opportunities of this kind.

Head of Community Relations of CMPC Angol Roberto Martínez highlighted the how important it is. He said, “This is a very large competition, which has been very well prepared and coordinated by Zorcat. People came from all different latitudes. CMPC is participating with the goal of showcasing the sport in our Living Forest project, which includes activities related to trail running and mountain biking in which the community can utilize the forest and enjoy our properties,” he added.

The Nahuelbuta All-In has 4 competitive distances, 60, 30, 17 and 9 kilometers. This year will also include a children’s 2 kilometer route for boys and girls aged 3 to 13.
The crowned winners of the Long Distance category (60k) are Santiago Morgazzene and Contanza Leal, who is also a notable in the national trail running story. Luis Valle and Dominga Villarino triumphed in the 30k while Diego Díaz and the Angolan Paula Nazal took first in the 17-kilometer category. She was the first woman to cross the finish line at this distance, thus becoming national champion with the chance to represent Chile in the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Austria June 2023.
