CMPC wins the 2023 Circular Territory Award by revaluing waste for use in agricultural projects

The initiative, chosen from among 125 environmental projects, presented innovative solutions on competitiveness, sustainability and the circular economy, recovering more than 100 thousand tons of waste in 2023 in Chile.

Complying with the sustainability goal, which seeks to achieve zero disposal of waste to landfill by 2025, the ‘Project for the valorization of waste through beneficial application in soils of degraded agricultural properties’ presented by CMPC won the 2023 Circular Territory Award promoted by CORFO, the Ministry of the Environment of Chile and SOFOFA HUB.

The award was accepted by CMPC’s Environment, Health and Safety at Work Manager Sandra Riquelme who said, “Achieving this significant honor for circularity is a milestone for the company. The implementation of our Waste Strategy represents environmental advances in different lines of work. Our award-winning project for the beneficial application of waste on forest properties meant recovering more than 100 thousand tons of waste in 2023.”

Territorio Circular is a program in Chile that seeks to recognize innovative solutions to improve competitiveness and sustainability in the various regions by incorporating circular economy models.  The award-winning project is part of our Waste Strategy and has become one of the top waste recovery initiatives in the country.

“Events like this reinforce our daily work to achieve impeccable operations that ensure sustainability in our processes,” said Sandra Riquelme.
