The sclerophyll forests in the Metropolitan Region of Chile are experiencing a risk to their existence. The extended drought and high temperatures of the season encourage the spreading of any potential fires. This explains why the Central Brigade has been working intensely for the past two months to protect the forest from threats, together with the community.
The Central Fire Brigade returns to Cerro del Medio to prevent wildfires
CMPC returned for the third time to Cerro del Medio in the company of the Municipality of Lo Barnechea and carried out prevention activities to take precedence over possible wildfires. The activity was marked by the delivery of recommendations to the visitors of the hill.

The prevention efforts of the Central Brigade continue
A group of eight fire prevention experts set up a firebreak on Friday at the Cerro del Medio in the Lo Barnechea neighborhood of the Metropolitan Region in Chile. The goal is to create spaces to prevent the advance of any future wild fires and protect the sclerophyll forest in the area.
New Central Brigade: Elite wildfire fighting team arrives in central Chile to take care of the forests from fire
In order to protect Santiago’s various green lungs, CMPC has made available to CONAF an unprecedented forest brigade that will join the fight in the region. Furthermore, the group of experts will have the mission of helping educate people about fire prevention.
