CMPC’s Chinook mega-helicopter fights two wildfires in the Biobío region
This Monday January 4th the aircraft made its first interventions since arriving to Chile last week in the communes of Hualqui and Los Angeles. Its efficacy and precision plus the hard work of the company’s team were able to contain both threats.

This 2020-2021 season, CMPC brought to the country not one, but two of these aircraft that after three consecutive seasons have proven to be a great fighter in interface zones. The Chinooks will join the other 19 aircraft and more than 1,000 firefighters that the company has this summer.
The prevention efforts of the Central Brigade continue
A group of eight fire prevention experts set up a firebreak on Friday at the Cerro del Medio in the Lo Barnechea neighborhood of the Metropolitan Region in Chile. The goal is to create spaces to prevent the advance of any future wild fires and protect the sclerophyll forest in the area.

In order to protect Santiago’s various green lungs, CMPC has made available to CONAF an unprecedented forest brigade that will join the fight in the region. Furthermore, the group of experts will have the mission of helping educate people about fire prevention.
