Working forests or plantations

In our plantations, understood, according to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, WBCSD (for its acronym in English), as Productive Forests and thanks to the certified sustainable forest management with which we operate, we are able to produce fiber, natural and renewable origin raw material with high environmental attributes for a series of derived products, at the same time that we conserve our natural and native heritage, typical of each geography where we operate

Within the forest cycle, CMPC’s nurseries play a fundamental role. Present in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, through the El Pindo nursery (Misiones Province), Barba Negra (Rio Grande do Sul State), Carlos Douglas (Bíobío region) and Aysén (in Aysén), respectively. In these facilities, the best genetic specimens of plants are produced, in terms of volume, shape and wood properties, from seeds and vegetative propagation, ensuring the quality of native and productive forests.

Logs and chips

The company’s productive forests are operated sustainably, taking proactive action in the plantations, through thinning, harvesting and preventive control of rural fires. In these forests, logs for pulp, logs for sawing, logs for laminating (pruned and knotty) are produced. After the harvest, the same land is reforested, thus giving birth to a new forest and starting a new forest cycle.
