Atmospheric emissions
Our industrial processes generate different types of atmospheric emissions, which can have adverse effects on the environment and people. For this reason, we measure the atmospheric emissions produced by our operations, comply with the regulations applicable to each of our plants and have abatement systems in place. At the same time, we make our most relevant emissions transparent, such as Particulate Matter (PM), Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2).
Atmospheric emissions in metric tons
2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | |
NOx | 8,235 | 8,136 | ||
SO2 | 1,508 | 1,781 | ||
PM | 1,556 | 1,213 |
In Chile, there is a green tax on the emissions from stationary sources, which was introduced as part of the tax reform from 2014 and came into effect in 2017. This tax is imposed on companies that have Particulate Matter (PM), Nitrogen Oxide (NOx), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions produced by their operating boilers or turbines of over 50 MWt.
